Usthad Abu Ibraheem Hussnayn made a Post On Face Book Against Those People (SPUBS) who Falsely accusing him as A “Hizbee” Astagfirullah.
Usthad Abu Ibraheem Hussnayn Said :
“I want to deal with an issue because I’m sure we’ve all come across it, many of us probably don’t understand it, others probably lose sleep over it and perhaps it ruins the lives of some.
“He’s a Hizbee”
Read that again. It reads, “He’s a Hizbee”
This is something we hear, usually from the youth but not exclusively so, when talking about others. What is a “Hizbee”? Someone who has partisanship to, or calls towards something other than, the book of Allah, the Sunnah of His messenger (salAllahu alayhi wa sallam) and the way of the righteous Salaf. So perhaps he only promotes a certain masjid, a certain speaker or organisation or even a certain group of scholars.
If what i’m saying doesn’t make sense to you then please ignore this post and move on, if however, it does, then read on.
Now when it comes to a lot of the duaat out there from amongst those who are upon the way of the soofis or ikhwanis, this term “hizbiyyah” or “hizbee” may apply because frankly they only call to their own organisations or groups or other people who hold their twisted views. They call bigotedly towards them and mislead people from the Sunnah.
However, as has long been a trend and sadly one that started on the forums of the west and has now found its way into the muslim countries, there are those who are striving for salafiyyah yet they are labelled “hizbees”. These brothers are doing their best to tread the way of the salaf. They may have problems, mistakes, misunderstandings or differing views BUT they still fundamentally adhere to the way of the companions and those who follow them.
What we see a lot of in the west is translated extracts from the speech of scholars, or a few quotes on forums – which are they brazenly applied to others. Please understand, the scholar was addressing a particular audience, in a particular place at a particular time. To then slap this ruling on someone you know or someone online is ignorance at best – particularly when it can ruin lives. There is a manhaj when dealing with fatawa, something that these brothers probably don’t even comprehend.
There are people whose lives were made a misery, their chests constricted and their eyes made to cry, because they were slapped with a fatwa or an accusation. Is this Islam? Is this salafiyyah? In a place where the sunnah is rare and bid’ah is rampant?!
There have been three or four articles about me accusing me of being a “hizbee” – i.e. that I call to something other than the correct path. Even to the point where our brothers in Africa are affected and they come to me for clarification – am I a “hizbee”?
“Why am i a hizbee?” I ask
“Because you promote a masjid where the books of Sayyid Qutub were found in the library”
Right. Scholars came to this masjid, scholars of the sunnah who are recognised by other scholars. They taught the ahadeeth of the messenger (salAllahu alayhi wa sallam). My own teacher was teaching. I promoted THIS conference, and as a result I am a hizbee because I promote a conference which is held at a masjid which had the books of Qutb in its library?
Talk about death by association. I mentioned this incident to my sheikh, Hasan Raashid. He mentioned how his teacher, Sheikh Ibn Baz (rahimahullah) would go to the masaajid of the tableeghis in Madina to teach them, and the students would go to benefit. The sheikh then said, would these people throw this accusation on Sheikh Ibn Baz or us, his students?! “What were we teaching” he asked – “the ahadeeth of the messenger” – Hizbiyyah?
Next reason why i’m a Hizbee is because I shared a book about being gentle to our brothers and it was on a “deviant” website – a website run by graduates of Madinah university. Some scholars warned against this website and others recommend it. Once again, death by association.
Subhan’Allah! Perhaps I once ate at the same cafe where some innovator also had his dinner, that probably makes me a “hizbee” or “innovator” in their eyes aswell! This is not how the dawah works brothers.
I’m sure there are other reasons why I am a hizbee but by Allah, I say to these people, fear Allah. Find me where I call to something other than Qur’an, Sunnah, Salafiyyah. This isn’t me being arrogant, this is me saying I want to rectify my mistakes before i meet Allah.
I quote Sheikh Rabee (hafidahullah) because some of these won’t accept it unless it comes from him:
“…my advice to you is to study — if a person has been spoken about, [my advice] is to study him, and to take the statements of the ones who critique men (Al-Naqidin) and to understand them, and to make sure of their authenticity, so this has been made clear to you then let a person judge out of awareness and conviction, not out of Taqlid of this or that person, nor out of extreme fanaticism for this or that person. And leave individuals so-and-so and so-and-so (i.e. do not let this be your main concern; leave this business aside); take this as a principle and transmit it to those who disagree (mentioned in the question) to understand the reality only and to know the Truth and to take themselves out of the group of those who are extremely biased towards falsehood. And I am not pleased that anyone should be extremely biased towards me ever. If I have made a mistake, then let he who happened upon my mistake tell me: You have made a mistake. May Allah bless you. And do not be extremely biased towards anyone, [neither] this one or that one.” (Khuturat Al-Kathib Wa Aatharahu Al-Sayyi’ah Wa Mawquf Al-Islam Minhu, minute: 56)
And Shekh al-Albani said – “If we all recall that every son of Adam makes mistakes, and that the best of those who make mistakes are those who repent, and that infallibility is not for anyone after the Messenger of Allah sallaa Allahu ‘alaihi wa Aalihi wa sallam then it is not strange that someone who is an Imam in the Da’wah of the Truth should make a mistake. So if he makes a mistake in an issue or another, in two issues or three or more, then this does not expel him from the Da’wah of the Truth if he adopted it” (Silsilah Al-Huda Wal-Nur, tape no. 727)
And Sheikh Salih al-Fawzan was asked – “Question: What is the ruling on those who force the people on accepting the ruling of Tabdi’ on some of the Du’at and basing their Wala’ wa Bara’ (their association and disassociation) on that, and boycotting the one who does not make Tabdi’ of that person”
He replied – “He is not to be forced with this (or such rulings are not to be imposed on others) nor are you to obey them in this, say: “I am free of this, and Allah has granted me well being (by protecting me, or keeping me away) from this, nor do I involve myself in it, nor do I know anything of it”. Yes” Source : CLICK HERE
And he was asked: “Ahsan Allah elaikum Sahib Al-Fadilah (literally: Companion of virtuousness, i.e. that he hafithahu Allah is a virtuous Sheikh), this questioner says: In recent times there has been an increase in insults by saying “so-and-so is not a Salafi, or is not of the Salafiyyin”, so is this statement considered one of Tabdi’, and if so, is establishing the proof against [the one being insulted this way] necessary?”
He replied: “By Allah, I warn against this insult. Alhamdulillah, those Muslimin, those students, all of them in shaa’ Allah are upon goodness, all of them are upon the ‘Aqidah of the Salaf, even if some of them have some shortcomings or ignorance, so he does not leave Al-Salafiyyah (due to such shortcomings or ignorance), and these words are not allowed. These words are not allowed [to be said] between the students and the brothers and the children of the Muslimin, and in the lands of the Muslimin, these words are not allowed. What is obligatory is giving advice; if you notice something from your brother, you advise him. As for (words are unclear) that he is not from the Salaf, nor from Al-Salafiyyah, maybe you don’t know what Al-Salafiyyah is…some of them claim Al-Salafiyyah yet they do not know it.” Source : CLICK Here
And he was asked – “Virtuous Sheikh — may Allah grant you success — there is a phenomenon among the young ones and it is the testing of people with individuals, so if you agree with the one testing you are from Ahl Al-Sunnah, and if you oppose him, then you are an innovator. So what is your advice concerning this”
He replied: “The advice is that he who agrees with the Book and the Sunnah then he is from Ahl Al-Sunnah, without looking at individuals, except Muhammad sallaa Allahu ‘alaihi wa sallam. So we do not follow anyone except the Messenger sallaa Allahu ‘alaihi wa sallam. {There was for you in the Messenger of Allah a good example}. And as for other than [the Prophet sallaa Allahu ‘alaihi wa sallam], then he who follows [the Prophet sallaa Allahu ‘alaihi wa sallam] then we be like him, and he who opposes [the Prophet sallaa Allahu ‘alaihi wa sallam] then we oppose [that person]. So the one who is to be followed is the Messenger of Allah sallaa Allahu ‘alaihi wa sallam. And due to this Sheikh Al-Islam [Ibn Taimiyyah] rahimahu Allah said: “He who alleges that it is obligatory to follow a person other than the Messenger sallaa Allahu ‘alaihi wa sallam, then he is made to repent, and if he does not…” This is because he has affirmed that there is a person other than the Messenger sallaa Allahu ‘alaihi wa sallam who is to be followed. And we do not test the people with individuals, rather we test them with the Book and the Sunnah, [and with] following the Messenger sallaa Allahu ‘alaihi wa sallam. If you test someone, test them with the Messenger sallaa Allahu ‘alaihi wa sallam. Because it is he [sallaa Allahu ‘alaihi wa sallam] whom it is obligatory to follow and be like. Yes” Source : CLICK HERE
And Sheikh Rabee was asked – “Question: If you spoke of a specific person, then some of the Noble Mashayikh of Ahl Al-Sunnah are asked about that person and so they speak of what they know of apparent good of that person and they praise him, so what should the position of the young Salafi be in this case?”
He replied – “Al-Sheikh Rabi’ hafithahu Allah: I advise the young Salafis wherever they are to not split apart because of so-and-so and so-and-so and to not become fanatically biased towards so-and-so or so-and-so, rather upon them with regards to the likes of these problems is to be prudent and certain [of what is being said] and to search for the Truth”
Sheikh Abdul Muhsin al-Abbaad was asked – Questioner: If one of the Shaikhs said about someone, ‘He is an innovator,’ is the student obliged to adopt this stance of calling that person an innovator? Or must he know why the person was called an innovator? Because this declaration of a person to be an innovator may have been applied to someone who is on the Sunnah?
The Sheikh replied: Not everyone’s statements in this issue are accepted, if it comes from someone like Shaikh Ibn Baaz or like Shaikh Ibn ’Uthaimeen then it is possible that his statement is relied on, as for anyone and everyone, then such statements are not taken from them. (Baab maa Jaa’a fi Miqdaar Diyyatidh-Dhimmi min Sharh Sunan Abi Dawuud)
And Sheikh al-Albani was asked – “Question: A man whose Usul is that of Ahl Al-Sunnah and he walks upon its Manhaj (i.e. the Manhaj of Ahl Al-Sunnah), and he is known for his defense of it, and his service to it, and sometimes he makes some mistakes in his Manhaj; so is he warned against by name or by making clear his mistakes?”
Al-Sheikh Al-Albani rahimahu Allah: “The second and not the first” (Silsilah Al-Huda Wal-Nur, 8/751)
And by Allah there is so much more like this which I have not put here. But look at some of the scholars – look how gentle they tell us to be with one another. Yet today, we get some ignorant fools boycotting one another because they may pray at a different masjid, even though they are both salafi, inshaa’Allah. If you like Abu Khadeejah then you are salafi, if you don’t then you are a Hizbee or an innovator?!
What? As Sheikh Abdul Muhsin said – This is a clear innovation! But many of these people do not understand even an iota of this because they do not seek beneficial knowledge, rather they have taken it upon themselves to be the gatekeepers of Salafiyyah.
But let me tell you what REAL hizbiyyah is. When you only promote your own events or companies (which are personal business ventures) yet refute and criticise everyone else.
When you try to monopolise the dawah of salafiyyah. When you are the only “salafis” and everyone else “has been spoken about” or is a “hizbee”. When everyone else is an “unclear” salafi except those who agree with you.
By ALLAH those who scream “HIZBEE” the most are the real hizbees!
Don’t test me with Tahir Wyat, Abu Usama, Abu Khadeejah, Green Lane, Salafi Publications or anyone else, because by Allah NONE OF THESE MATTER TO ME. What matters to me is pleasing Allah and attaining His forgiveness. What matters to me is the manhaj of the salaf – calling people to tawheed and sunnah, warning against shirk and bid’ah.
So I call to salafiyyah inshaa’Allah. If you claim I am a hizbee or an innovator then upon you is proof. Not proof that I gave a lecture in a place and then someone else came the next week to the same place, therefore I am an innovator?! Fear the fire whose fuel is men and stones. Bring me proof if you are truthful and sincere.
I don’t want copy and paste fatawa, nor do I want quotes from the salaf which YOU quote as you see fit. Speak with daleel and speak with justice. I do not intend to deal with this issue any further, as my teacher, who ironically is a student of Sheikh Rabee and Ibn Baz, has advised me. And this is how the real people of knowledge are – he advised me to continue calling to Tawheed and Sunnah and warning against Shirk and Bid’ah, with daleel.
This is our call. Follow the Book Of Allah, the sunnah of His messenger (salAllahu alayhi wa sallam) and the manhaj of the righteous salaf. Leave off the hizbiyyah and the real hizbees.
